Biography

Skai Fowler is a Vancouver based visual artist and has been exhibiting her work since 1987.  Skai graduated in photography and interdisciplinary studies from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1985. Her paintings and photographs exhibit nationally and internationally. After graduating and to support her art practice she worked for a many years as an arts administrator; first for a variety of small arts and theatre companies, then working for the City of Vancouver in the Office of Cultural Affairs co-ordinating and developing the Community Public Art Program. She then worked with collective echoes as arts mentor and administrator working with young emerging artists conceiving, developing and implementing artwork in public places.  Skai then worked for 10 years as Head Scenic Painter at GreatNorthern Way Scene Shop. She now shares Studio 13 Fine Arts with two other artists, is an adjunct professor teaching scenic painting at University of British Columbia in the Theatre and Film Dept and facilitates Dream Workshops.
